What are “near death” experiences and what do they tell us about the nature of reality and the world in which we live? Are they actually evidence of theism or Christianity? J. Warner and Jimmy Wallace discuss recent news articles in this episode of the NRBtv Cold-Case Christianity Broadcast.

Be sure to watch the Cold-Case Christianity Broadcast on NRBtv every Monday and Saturday! In addition, here is the audio podcast (the Cold-Case Christianity Weekly Podcast is located on iTunes or our RSS Feed):

For more information about the impact Jesus and His followers had on science, read Person of Interest: Why Jesus Still Matters in a World That Rejects the Bible. This unique and innovative book makes a case for the historicity and Deity of Jesus from history alone, without relying on the New Testament manuscripts. It contains over 400 illustrations and is accompanied by a ten-session Person of Interest DVD Set (and Investigator’s Guide) to help individuals or small groups examine the evidence and make the case.

Very interesting discussion. I have one question though for J&J: are you falling into the trap of adding evidence vs weighing evidence? For example, it doesn’t matter how many people die and don’t rise from the dead. What matters is that there is one instance where the evidence is overwhelming that someone did rise from the dead. I wonder if some of the discussion shifted to adding NDE experiences vs weighing specific NDE instances on a case by case basis. I do however appreciate that at minimum NDEs can be a tool to confirm immaterial aspects of us as human beings.

    Jim,
I just recently discovered your podcast and appreciate your work. In listening to the NDE podcast I have a thought that you didn’t bring up. Most of the stories that we hear regarding NDE’s are people who experience light, God, peace, etc. It is notable that they are not all Christian and, since the way is narrow to God, the majority should not be (sadly). Those who do not profess Christ as Lord and die will not go to meet him. If the phenomena was real, should we not expect for the majority of the stories to be those of experiences of hell and subsequent salvation after returning to life here on earth?

That was similar to my question. You hear of NDE and they see light or Jesus, etc. Are you there stories of NDE where the person sees hell?
