It’s been over a year since the final report about Ravi Zacharias was released. What can we learn from the scandal? What can we do to prevent others from falling in a similar way? J. Warner and Jimmy Wallace discuss recent news articles in this episode of the NRBtv Cold-Case Christianity Broadcast.

Be sure to watch the Cold-Case Christianity Broadcast on NRBtv every Monday and Saturday! In addition, here is the audio podcast (the Cold-Case Christianity Weekly Podcast is located on iTunes or our RSS Feed):

For more information about the impact Jesus and His followers had on science, read Person of Interest: Why Jesus Still Matters in a World That Rejects the Bible. This unique and innovative book makes a case for the historicity and Deity of Jesus from history alone, without relying on the New Testament manuscripts. It contains over 400 illustrations and is accompanied by a ten-session Person of Interest DVD Set (and Investigator’s Guide) to help individuals or small groups examine the evidence and make the case.

My path crossed Ravi’s for many years, as I did international travel for business. Ravi had positive influence on thousands of people and lead many people to Christ. He even had a positive impact on my, my family, and friends. Yes, Ravi did have his failures and being someone who impacted many people for Christ was someone that Satan targets. David and Soloman were examples of faithful followers of God, yet they failed (sinned). Still they had positive impact on their societies and came back to Christ. While Ravi did fall to temptation it does not eliminate the positive gospel impact he had for many. I will always be thankful for God’s word through Ravi. Only Christ knows if he repented before his passing. Prayers go out to his wife, Naomi and Sarah for strength, encouragement, and healing.

Thank you for completing the reflection on Ravi. He was my first introduction to apologetics “The Logic of God” and I likened him to someone I wanted to model. You hit it on the head when you mention his “sweetness” in his delivery. He appeared kind, patient and filled with the fruits of the spirit. I was just shocked as most were. Jim and Jimmy, I pray for you two often. Satan lurks and gets a foothold too easily. Thank you for your diligence and conviction to helping us all have a better forensic faith.

Ravi was a person whom many looked up to. He was trusted, admired and sought after for his knowledge and wisdom concerning christian apologetics. He was a ‘giant’ in the defense of Christianity. He wasn’t the first apologist I began learning from, but he became a person I wanted to learn from. I believe the information he shared is useful still today. As Dan commented, I too will be thankful for God’s word spoken through Ravi. I also agree that only Jesus knows if Ravi repented before death. It’s a humble reminder that any one of us, as a Christ follower, is capable of committing heiness acts against others. We need to always pray and be on guard.

Have absolutely no illusions about anybody’s flesh, no matter who they are, how brilliant and respected they are, or how humble and godly they seem. Absolutely no illusions. The laundry list of the wicked works of the corrupt and unredeemable flesh is spelled out in contrast with the fruits of the Spirit. We are all as an unclean thing and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.
