Hi Jim,
I enjoy your podcast and the unique way that you approach the gospel and proof for a living God.
One of the listeners asked the question during this interview (paraphrasing) “How do we know that the accounts in the Bible are accurate?” I do not discount your response as a whole. I do agree that if Jesus gave the same sermons over and over it would be easy to recall. I also agree that the memories of times with Jesus would stand out over memories which have less impact in a day to day experience. I agree that if those two things were the case those could be contributing factors. I think we need to be careful as Christians to point out that the Bible is an inspired work not authored by the writers but authored by the Holy Spirit.
John 14:26 says, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit with teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”
2 Samuel 23:2 David says, “The Spirit of the Lord speaks by me. His word is on my tongue.”
Acts 28:25 “And disagreeing among themselves, they departed after Paul had made one statement: “The Holy Spirit was right in saying to your fathers through Isaiah the prophet:”
Who authored the books of the Bible is a big arguing point for those who are non-believers. I hear from non-believers many times that it is book that was written by men therefore has no weight as evidence for God.
Thanks for the opportunity to interact! Keep on doing what you do!
