Do Dinosaurs Disprove the Bible?

Do Dinosaurs Disprove the BiblePerhaps the most frequent questions asked of me related to the age of the earth are these: What do Christians say about dinosaurs? How do Christians account for dinosaurs and the death we observe in the fossil record? Doesn’t the very existence of dinosaurs in the fossil record, contradict the claims of the Bible? There’s an impression, even amongst Christians, dinosaurs present the Christian community with a true dilemma. There seems to be something contradictory about the archeological record of dinosaur life, and the biblical record of creation. This apparent contradiction exists for a number of reasons, and as a community, we need to talk about them so we can move forward to accurately evaluate the natural and special revelation God has given us.

The first issue seems to be the uncomfortable silence in the Biblical creation account when it comes to dinosaurs. Why aren’t they mentioned specifically as part of God’s creation? It is true there don’t appear to be any references to dinosaurs in the Biblical record (although some will maintain that the ‘behemoth’ and the ‘leviathan’ mentioned in Job – the Bible’s oldest book – reference dinosaurs). But the argument from silence is really not a fair argument to make here, as it assumes the short Biblical creation account exists to provide humans with a concrete scientific chronology, when it exists for no such purpose. God wrote the short Genesis account to a specific people in a specific period of history. God’s intention here was for the ancient Israelites (who knew nothing of dinosaurs) to understand they were created in God’s image, and their world was also the product of a Creator God who considered them to be the crown of His creation. Beyond this, God had no detailed scientific purpose. Remember the Bible is God’s love letter to us and not a science manual.

The Genesis account is also silent about all kinds of creatures, especially if we consider the specific species or life forms falling under the larger categories listed in the Biblical record. While the Genesis account says God created all kinds of animals that walk and crawl on the ground, it does not specifically mention marsupials, for example. They are simply a subset of the larger group mentioned by Moses. In addition, there is nothing said about reptiles or amphibians or insects. Clearly Moses was aware of these creatures, for he also wrote the account of the serpent in the Garden and the frogs and insects of the Egyptian plagues. Why is he silent about them in the creation account? Because every piece of literature is written for a specific purpose and this must be considered when we read the literature. The Biblical creation account is far more interested in man’s role within creation and man’s relationship to the Creator than it is interested in listing every species that ever lived on planet earth. Don’t be misled by silence here.

The second issue plaguing Christians as they consider the possibility dinosaurs existed millions of years ago (and well before the existence of humans), is the belief (held by many Christians) the earth is far too young to account for the long dinosaur history indicated in the fossil record. But, as controversial as it sometimes seems, many Christians believe in a very ancient earth (with long creation periods), and hold to these beliefs while simultaneously retaining the utmost respect for the authority of Scripture.

But there is yet another issue troubling many Christians as they ponder the existence of dinosaurs. It’s the idea nothing on earth died before the fall of Adam. Many Christians believe the Bible describes a perfect world before Adam’s sin; a world in which nothing dies. If this is true, we would have great difficulty in explaining the presence of death we observe in the ancient fossil record, preceding the appearance of humans. Clearly, all kinds of species of life, both very primitive and more advanced, can be seen captured in the fossil record. How can this be the case, if death comes to the planet only through the sin of Adam? Doesn’t the Bible teach this is the case? Let’s take a look at some important passages of scripture and see for ourselves:

Romans 5:12-14
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned- for before the law was given, sin was in the world. But sin is not taken into account when there is no law. Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who was a pattern of the one to come.

The first thing we need to define here is the word “death” (‘thanatos’ in the Greek). What kind of death is Paul talking about here? Is he talking about biological death or spiritual death? Well, in verse 21 of the very same passage, Paul says, “…just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Clearly Paul is contrasting ‘death’ with ‘eternal life’. It certainly appears Paul is referring to ‘death’ in its spiritual context, not its biological context. And this is consistent with Genesis 2:6. In this passage in Genesis, Moses says God warned Adam and Eve “in the day that you eat of the tree you will surely die”. Adam and Eve did not die biologically “in the day” they ate from the tree, did they? But they did die spiritually in the sense they came under the divine judgment of death as it was executed against man. Adam and Eve were then removed from the garden as a symbol of this spiritual death and were prevented from eating from the tree of life. While the biological sense of death is also meant here, it is clear spiritual death is also in sight.

Let’s return to the passage in Romans 5. We looked at the word used for “death”, now let’s look at the word used to say “the world” (‘kosmos’ in the Greek). It does appear Paul is saying death is the result of sin, and sin has entered into the entire world (including all other forms of life in addition to humans). If this is true, then it is easy to see why some Christians don’t believe anything died before Adam’s sin. But, if we take a close look at how the word for ‘the world’ is being used here, it is clear Paul is not actually speaking about all the world, but is instead talking directly about mankind. Look at how he uses the same word in verse 13: “…for before the law was given, sin was in the world (‘kosmos’). But sin is not taken into account when there is no law.” We know one thing for sure; sin doesn’t exist the non-human realm. So what “world” is Paul talking about here? He is talking about the world of human beings; the world of humanity. That’s why Paul uses he phrase “all men” in the second portion of the passage (verse 12), and he uses it as a synonym for “world”. Take a look at verse 18. There it is again, the expression “all men” being used as a synonym. In this particular verse, Paul is saying spiritual and physical death came to mankind as a result of the sin of Adam. That’s why we see evidence of both animal and plant death in the fossil record long before the appearance of mankind. Sin brought death to mankind, not to the animal and plant world in general.

Was All Creation Cursed?
Some Christians have also argued Paul said all creation was forever changed by the fall of Adam and was ‘frustrated’. They believe part of this ‘frustration’ resulted animals preying on one another. The implication is death and carnivorous activity did not exist before the sin of Adam. The argument comes from this passage of scripture:

Romans 8:18-21
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.

Many Christians have taken this passage to mean that before the frustration of the planet, there was no death or decay of any kind. While it is clear Paul is talking about all of creation here (unlike the passage in Romans 5), it is not clear Paul is talking about animal and plant death prior to Adam when he uses words like “corruption” or “decay”. In fact, Paul seems to be referencing Isaiah as he describes how creation is waiting eagerly to be liberated from its bondage to decay:

Isaiah 24:4-6
The earth dries up and withers, the world languishes and withers, the exalted of the earth languish. The earth is defiled by its people; they have disobeyed the laws, violated the statutes and broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore a curse consumes the earth; its people must bear their guilt. Therefore earth’s inhabitants are burned up, and very few are left.

Isaiah 26:19-21
But your dead will live; their bodies will rise. You who dwell in the dust, wake up and shout for joy. Your dew is like the dew of the morning; the earth will give birth to her dead… See, the LORD is coming out of his dwelling to punish the people of the earth for their sins. The earth will disclose the blood shed upon her; she will conceal her slain no longer.

Isaiah seems to be saying the earth mourns because it is concealing its slain. It mourns because it is a mass graveyard! This is also what Paul is talking about in Romans 8. The earth will be liberated of its dead at the end of the age, when the dead are resurrected. This passage does not eliminate the possibility plants and animals died before Adam’s sin.

Did They Eat Meat Before Noah?
A friend of mine told me recently many of his beliefs related to this issue of animal death prior to Adam come from the Genesis creation account and God’s commands to Noah following the flood. He believes these two passages work together to suggest no animal ate meat prior to the great flood, and no animal had to die prior to the fall of Adam (to be eaten as food by other animals). Let’s look at both passages:

Genesis 1:29-30
Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground — everything that has the breath of life in it — I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.

Genesis 9:1-4
Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth. The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands. Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. “But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it.”

The Genesis 1 passage seems to be saying God gave plants to the animals to be eaten for food prior to the fall of Adam. The Genesis 9 passage then seems to be lifting some kind of restriction on meat, suggesting even humans were not eating animals prior to this point in history. If no one is eating animals until this point in time, then there would be no death prior to Adam caused by animals in search of a good meal. This does seem to fly in the face of archeological evidence of sharp toothed carnivorous dinosaurs who roamed the earth, eating other animals. But look at Genesis 1:29-30 once again. There is nothing in this passage saying animals where prohibited or unable to eat anything other than plants. It simply says plants exist as part of creation to serve as food for the animals created next. Plants are to be the foundational element in the food chain, and indeed they are. The herbivores so dependent on plants for their survival are, in fact, the base diet of the carnivores. So, in essence, both herbivores and carnivores alike are dependent on plants for their survival. And look now at Genesis 9. This is a command directed at Noah and mankind. It has little or nothing to say about the behavior of the ‘lower’ animals themselves and certainly does not eliminate the possibility animals ate each other and died prior to the sin of Adam.

Are the End Times a Restoration, or a Promise of Something Better?
Many Christians also point to the end times predictions of Isaiah to make a case the world was without death prior to the sin of Adam. Isaiah clearly describes the eschatological future world as a place where carnivores will no longer eat other animals:

Isaiah 11:6-9; 65:25
The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child put his hand into the viper’s nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea… The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent’s food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain,” says the LORD.

Christians sometimes read these words as a description of what the world must have been like before sin. After all, the scriptures have described Jesus as the second Adam who ushers in a new world; a new inheritance for us as the children of God. Doesn’t the second Adam simply return us to the state of the first Adam? Doesn’t the new world then resemble the world as it was before sin? Not necessarily. It is certainly a stretch to assume the second Adam ushers in a perfect world which is merely a restoration of the Garden of Eden. God promises us something even better than what Adam experienced in the Garden. There is nothing in the scripture mandating the Garden was a place of utter perfection, perfectly equal to the promised world awaiting us at the end of time. We’ve already discussed all the passages dealing even tangentially with condition of the Garden. Any other assumption is just that: an assumption. Nothing in the Bible excludes the possibility plants and animals died long before Adam was created by God.

The Biblical Argument for Death Prior to the Fall
In fact, it could be argued the Bible teaches just the opposite. Let’s take a look at the creation text found in Psalm 104, for example. Here is a poetic creation psalm that recalls God’s creation in detail. The first 18 verses carefully recollect the creation of the universe and the earth. The psalmist retells the creation of the heavens (vs. 2) and the earth (vs. 5), the creation of the oceans (vs. 6) and the solid ground (vs. 7), the creation of animals of the fields (vs. 11) and the birds of the air (vs. 12), the creation of plants (vs. 14) and trees (vs. 16). Then, starting in verse 19, the psalm starts to talk about the creation of the moon and sun, and explains that the moon was actually created by God so that nocturnal animals would have enough light to be able to prowl and hunt their prey:

Psalm 104:19-28
The moon marks off the seasons, and the sun knows when to go down. You bring darkness, it becomes night, and all the beasts of the forest prowl. The lions roar for their prey and seek their food from God. The sun rises, and they steal away; they return and lie down in their dens. Then man goes out to his work, to his labor until evening. How many are your works, O LORD! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number — living things both large and small. There the ships go to and fro, and the leviathan, which you formed to frolic there. These all look to you to give them their food at the proper time. When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things.

First, note God clearly designed the lion to prowl for its prey. The food of the lion is obviously not vegetation here, and it is being described in the context of this creation psalm, right alongside with the description of the creation of the animals and the creation of the moon. Even this early in the creation order, lions appear to be hunting. But notice something more. This hunting exercise is not only condoned by God, it has been given to the lion by God. He delights in it. The hunting activity of the lion pleases God and it is part of his perfect plan for the world. That’s right, death before the fall of Adam is still described as part of God’s perfect plan.

The Natural Argument for Death Prior to the Fall
This description of carnivorous activity in the most ancient era of God’s early creation does match what we see in God’s natural revelation to us in the fossil record. The fossils tell us a lot about life on the early earth, and they don’t tell us that evolution is true (but that’s another story for another post). Instead, the fossil record repeatedly tells us life starts and stops; species appear suddenly and disappear just as suddenly in the many years prior to the sudden appearance of Adamic humans. This is exactly what we would expect to see from a Creator God. Not the slow evolution of species with millions of incremental transitional forms, but the sudden appearance of species over the course of history, some of which have been allowed to continue into the present era and some of whom have been eliminated completely. Death is recorded in the fossil record, and it is recorded long before the appearance of man. This is consistent with the Biblical interpretation death was (and is) simply a part of God’s creation plan for the animals and plants surrounding us. We are different than the other animals and plants in our environment. We were created in God’s image. We are destined for eternity. But this truth does not preclude the fact the plants and animals we live with are not so designed.

I think it is hard for some of us to imagine God would design any kind of death into His created world, especially the world of Adam and Eve prior to the fall. But clearly Psalm 104 indicates His design of carnivorous activity was (and is) part of His perfect plan; part of His perfect design. Why would this be true? Perhaps it is because God’s creative acts have always been targeted toward the very crown of his creation, mankind. Remember Adam and Eve are the last created beings. They are the guests of honor at the banquet table being set for them by a Holy Creator. As the guests of honor, they enter the banquet room last. They alone are created in the image of God. All else has been designed for them. They have authority and dominion over everything else. If a cup drops from the table and breaks, it will be replaced. Plants and animals will be killed in order to prepare the banquet. In fact, much of the activity that is conducted prior to the entrance of the honored guests might be seen as destructive. But mankind was created for communion with God. Mankind was created for eternal relationship and worship. We sometimes mistakenly elevate all of creation to the status that the Bible ascribes only to humans. We sometimes act as though the table setting is as important as the guest of honor.

Yes, dinosaurs did live and roam the earth. God created them. And yes, dinosaurs (and many other forms of animals and plants) did live and die before Adam was ever created. This was also part of God’s good plan as he continued to prepare and shape the planet for the appearance of the crown of His creation, the human race.

I would ask this author who agrees that dinosaurs loved long because humans were present: How “long” did dinosaurs live before humans, since the universe was created in only 6 days? Genesis and GOD limit each day to an evening and a morning.

God can’t lie, but the author has left an opening…

God did not create dinosaurs or ape men. They are the creation of Lucifer the angel the Godhead made first. He fell because of his sin, pride and rebellion. He was in the Garden of God long before Adam.He began to cut into Gods creatures and altered their DNA and RNA over millions of years he could not create.Resulting in dinosaurs first and ape men later. The dinosaurs were destroyed by the impact of an asteroid and earthquakes. The ape men were destroyed when God Judged him and the third of God angels when they where killed in their bodies left in their spirits beings restricted to the second heavens. The fall of Lucifer Ezekiel 28:11-19 and Isaiah 14:12-17.

The problem is that you gave Scriptures that said nothing about an ape-man. Nor did the Bible state that angels’ bodies became spirits. Neither do we, as flesh beings, have a spirit. First, the Bible states that the angels were created spiritual beings.
And of the angels he saith, Who maketh HIS angels spirits, and HIS ministers a flame of fire. Heb 1:7

Biblical scholars used the word spirit for our mind. They should not have done that. It was not written that way in the original Paleo Hebrew language. We came from dirt, YAHWEH BREATHE into our nostrils, and the Adams, male, and female, became a living soul. Show me anywhere in creation, and it said spirit.

Do you know what is so sad? We make assumptions, as we state the Bible is untrue. We don’t take the time to read it, nor pray to ask for understanding fully.

MY people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to ME: seeing thou hast forgotten the Law of thy ELOHIYM, I will also forget thy children. Hos 4:6

The Bible says in the beginning that YAHWEH created the Heavens and the Earth. Then Gen 1:2 says the Earth was without form or void. It also said it was dark on the face of the deep. The English language cannot always express the ancient language. Explaining the truth about the ancient language is for another time. The deep should have been clarified that it was water and there was nothing there but the water. Nothing is void—water in the cold outer space. So, once again, flesh beings who were created think they know more than THE CREATORS! That’s like a computer knows more than who made it, or a car, maybe a robot. YAHWEH said HE created all the animals. The living Redwood Trees were left for a reason: the Harry mammoth, Sabre tooth tigers, and more. What you don’t want is to believe the strength told in the Bible about the worldwide flood. That flood changed the Earth. It will state that the waters were divided, and even more!
And ELOHIYM made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. Gen 1:7

Now, the word firmament means expanse and an arch. In which the Earth has both. Remember, the water was divided, so ice crystals remain outside Earth’s atmosphere. Also, if you read about the flood, it says this:
In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. Gen 7:11

There was something more in-depth about the water that wasn’t available in Gen 1:2, the subterranean water supply:
The ocean contains more water than what can be found on the Earth’s surface. The ocean is stored in rock called ‘ringwoodite’ that is located 400 miles underground. This ocean was discovered by studying earthquakes and detecting shockwaves beneath the surface of the Earth.
Scientists found that water is stored inside mantle rock in a unique state, which is not a liquid, solid, or a gas. This state is known as the fourth state.
Geophysicist Steve Jacobsen said that the crystal structure of ringwoodite is very special and allows it to attract hydrogen and trap water.
As a result, the mineral can contain a lot of water under the conditions of the deep mantle. Jacobsen further added that scientists have been searching for this missing deep water for decades, and the discovery of the ocean under the Earth’s crust may help explain the vast amount of liquid water on the surface of our habitable planet.
The scientific paper titled ‘Dehydration melting at the top of the lower mantle’ was published in 2014, and it laid out the findings. If the rock contained only 1 percent water, it would mean that there is three times more water under the surface of the Earth than there is in the oceans on the surface. You won’t believe how much water is hidden under Earth’s crust! Ocean discovered by studying earthquakes, detecting shockwaves! SAMAA WEB DESK
The point I am trying to provide is that this planet was for the Adams, male, and female. Yes, the female talked to the serpent. The male Adam was standing right there and heard everything. She turned to him, and he ate of the fruit, and they both sinned. They were put out of the Garden of Eden before the flood, and the Garden was removed. The Adams’ oldest son committed the first murder. The Earth is a living organism that tastes and expresses the blood to its CREATOR. Cain was marked and left that part of Eden. Eden was a continent, and the Garden was eastward in Eden. Cain founded the land of Nod. The Bible said it was east in Eden. When Seth was born, they obeyed and returned to the family of THE ALMIGHTY ONES, becoming YAHWEH,’ THE FATHER earthly children!
I need to say that if men have mixed up animals today, they mixed up even more so, using 100% of their minds. They were not carnivorous. These creatures were in the worst flood this Earth had. That is why we have oceans; even more, water crystallizes in the Earth’s crust.
The last thing I would say is, why would THE ALMIGHTY ONES want to create them? For what purpose? The animals he created from the beginning were put in the ark. The problem is that we claim to believe in YAHWEH but want to go along with scientists. It can’t happen that way. Either believe in THEM, or you believe in man. I chose to believe in truth according to the Bible.

YESSS MS. MARRIAN!!!! You’re 1000% correct and being spirit led right now- the Bible itself says land animals were made WITH US on the sixth day(I’ll come back to this further in my comment). A dinosaur(in the ancient world referred to as a… DRAGON- I’ll come back to this as well) is a land animal!

Let’s first take a moment to consider the serpent of Genesis 3. Part of the serpent’s punishment for the temptation and fall of man was to crawl on its belly; Genesis 3:14e reads, “On your belly you shall go”. Clearly, this particular kind of serpent had to have began by having legs of some kind- with its belly *off* of the ground- for God to deliver it the punishment of moving “on [its] belly”.
Furthermore, we also know that Satan is *not* a serpent himself, no, he did not begin as a serpent. Satan(or Lucifer) was originally either an angel of God’s highest order(my understanding), or a beautiful celestial body. We can infer one of the two based on various translations of Isaiah 14:12, which reads, “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!”. We can infer this knowing that the term ‘morning star’ refers to the planet Venus(see link: https://www.space.com/31851-what-is-morning-star-evening-star.html ), leading us to the conclusion of a celestial body; OR(and I find this more logical), we may recall that when God speaks of celestial bodies, He usually refers to them as “the heavens”(Gen. 1:1-2; Isaiah 48:13; 1 Cor. 2:9) , as opposed to “heaven”, which is commonly known as the dwelling place of God(Deut. 26:15). We also an infer that Lucifer was an angel due to the verse I will reference later in Revelation 12. Firstly, to understand Lucifer as originally an angel, we must acknowledge that ‘the heavens’ and ‘heaven’, are separate and distinct.
With the understanding that the heavens and THE heaven are separate + distinct, AND that Lucifer originally was some kind of angel, we must then look to the possessions of the New Testament. Demon possession was common in the NT world, and we see Jesus delivering people from demon possession several times. The most notable being when Jesus cast them out of a man in the testament of the Gerasene demoniac, found in the synoptic Gospels. Where did they go, after asking Jesus for mercy? They physically possessed a herd of swine(pigs), and drove them to an early grave by causing them to drown themselves in the nearby Galilean sea. This story, covered in the three synoptic Gospels, proves that Satan’s agents CAN in fact physically possess an animal, surprisingly quickly and easily. Satan’s agents are subordinate to him, making it logical to conclude that he also has this ability.
With that foundational knowledge, let’s go back to Genesis 3. Genesis 3:1a reads, “Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made.” This comment is speaking about the actual animal that God made, this serpent. 1) We know that this serpent must have had legs to receive its punishment for tempting Adam and Eve; and 2) presumably, Eve would have no knowledge of Lucifer or his fall, because it is never expressed to Adam nor Eve by God, or at least is not documented. So, she would have just experienced a regular old serpent communicating with her, not a fallen angel- if she’d seen Satan himself, she’d have ran straight to God! So, he had to appear in a way that was fairly familiar to her so she would even entertain the conversation.
This leads me to believe that the creature that was “more cunning” than any other, would have been easily tempted to glory by Satan’s deceitful promises and sweet nothings. Let’s assume this particular type of serpent actually *permitted* Satan temporary submission to use his body in order to speak with Eve. The physical punishment for the apostate serpent was losing his legs, and crawling on his belly. So, we can infer that the “snake” was not God’s original creation, rather it was some kind of serpent with walkable legs(and possibly also, gasp, *wings*). Now, I’m adamant in believing that this “serpent” was only one particular *kind* of dinosaur(ancient: dragon).
I have several strong points of Biblical evidence for this, the first showing that the serpent was *originally* a dragon(not a snake), AND, associating Lucifer with this dragon, confirms what we have learned so far: Revelation 12:9, which reads, “The great dragon was hurled down–that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.”
Before we go forward, I’ll note that the latter part of this verse also confirms that Satan was at one point an angel(“his angels with him”- the co-conspiring angels cast out before the account of Genesis). With all of the Biblical evidence up to this point, knowing that Satan is a liar and was very skilled in tempting God’s creatures(man, angels, animals), we can determine:

      1) Lucifer, or Satan, was originally an angel. (Isaiah 48:12, Revelation 12:9)

      2) Satan and his subordinates had the ability and power to convince the original “ancient serpent” to allow Satan to temporarily join to his physical form. Satan likely achieved this by having a shared characteristic with this serpent: his cunning. With this common ground establishing both interest and trust, it’s easy to see how the serpent would have been tempted and manipulated by Satan’s deception.

      3) The “ancient serpent” accepted Satan’s deal, and because he was an apostate against his Creator, God, his whole kind was punished and would crawl on thier bellies, losing thier legs(and possibly wings). This is proven when we see the “ancient serpent” referred to as a DRAGON by God, to the beloved Apostle John, in Revelation 12:9. The conclusion is that the snake we know today began in the garden as some kind of beautiful, albeit cunning, dragon. This is the logical and Biblical conclusion.

My second piece of Scriptural evidence can be found in a passage of Job, 40:15-19a(really through the end of the chapter), which reads, “Look now at the behemoth, which I made *along with you*; He eats grass like an ox. See now, his strength is in his hips, And his power is in his stomach muscles. **His tail moves like a cedar**; The sinews of his thighs are tightly knit. His bones are like beams of bronze, His ribs like bars of iron. He is the first of the ways of God”
Now, many Biblical scholars and commentators have unfortunately, in a similar way to the man who wrote this, become horribly “evolutionized” in their thinking, and you will find in modern commentaries that many scholars attribute this to possibly an elephant or hippo. This is sorely incorrect- look at the tails of either of these animals. Both are narrow in comparison to their bodies, and neither “move like a cedar”.
In Biblical times, we know that cedar typical is referred to as coming from Lebanon(Psalm 92:12, Ezekiel 31:3), so Job would be familiar with the overwhelming size of the scientific “Cedrus libani”, which can easily reach 40 m (130 ft) in height, with a massive monopodial columnar(one big tube) trunk up to 2.5 m (8 ft 2 in) in diameter. Now, not to be crass, but please Google image search both the elephant and the hippo’s rear ends. You will find that, obviously, neither has a tail anywhere near similar to the tail of this massive beast God is telling Job of.
Also important to note here: God is speaking to Job about this “behemoth”, until the end of the chapter, speaking about how and where it lives, which we can infer to mean that Job would have not only known about, but SEEN this creature with his own eyes.
Now, please head back to Google images and search, “Sauropod dinosaur”. Take a good look at the tail, and take a deep breath for what I’m about to say.
God was absolutely NOT describing a hippo, or an elephant, in Job 40. He was describing a dinosaur, known in the ancient world as a “behemoth”. This behemoth, was a sauropod dinosaur.

Many evolutionists today would claim that I’m absolutely crazy for believing this, but as you do, I stand on the Biblical truth of the LORD our God, Creator and Author of the Universe, the earth, life, and everything. Not only that, we have both archeological evidence AND scientific evidence that suggests that no, it was not an asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs, and NO, it wasn’t XYZ-random-crazy-number million years ago.
      1) Opposition: “The dinosaurs were hit by a meteor and that’s how they died”
      1) Scientific evidence: The death pose of many dinosaur skeletons found across the globe is known as “opisthotonic posture”. This pose is not the result of a cerebral illness creating muscle spasms, and also not consistent with a rapid burial OR smothering through smoke/polluted air. Rather, *perimortem submersion* resulted in buoyancy that enabled the Ligamentum elasticum interlaminare to pull the head and tail back. Read: They were fully submerged, in water, at the time of their deaths.

2a-b) Opposition: “It takes millions of years for bones to fossilize[a]. We’d know if the bones were younger because they’d still have soft tissue- we don’t find that in dinosaurs because the preserved soft tissues within bone aren’t actually “soft” or really even present past a few thousand years[b].” (blatantly and verifiably false through scientific method testing, and this one is kind of funny)
2a) Scientific evidence: It is widely accepted that fossilization is a physical-chemical process that typically requires three conditions; possession of hard parts, escape from immediate destruction, and the right geochemical conditions in the sediment. The remains of terrestrial faunas and floras are normally encountered in lacustrine, swamp, and fluvial-alluvial deposits because *water is almost absolutely necessary for fossilization to occur*- this is also widely accepted. Water *flowing in the sediment surrounding buried organisms* allows dissolved minerals to seep through bones, shells, wood or other hard parts and replace them with minerals. This process is known as permineralization. Contrary to what many people believe, permineralization does not always take a long time. Given the right geochemical conditions during burial, permineralization can occur rapidly(like if there was a worldwide torrential downpour, a “flash-flood” that raged for over a month, loosening TONS of minerals and sediments in the ground and all of earth’s terrain): ranging from within *a few hours* to *a few years*, depending on the size and nature of the original material. Scientists have reported fossilized embryos of echinoderms (sea urchins), which are extremely delicate structures. Experiments carried out to replicate those fossilized embryos show that fossilization happened in a very short span of time!
Note: THIS is scientific evidence that the “millions of years old” fossils we have found have a very strong possibility of fossilizing MUCH sooner and FASTER than we thought originally. THIS is confirmed by the following:

2b) Preserved soft tissue was discovered inside of several dinosaur fossils in the past decade(Google it for sake of my comment being a whole essay)- remember, scientists at first claimed it was impossible to find intact soft tissue due to dinosaurs living “MILLIONS AND MILLIONS” of years ago. They concluded that this type of organic matter can only be preserved for a few thousand years…
Now, they are finding organic matter in numerous dino fossils. IF we take into account the Biblical FLOOD which is seen not only in the Bible, but in religions, oral AND written history, and mythology from nearly EVERY ancient people group in human history, the picture is CLEAR! The flood not only explains HOW the dinosaurs died and WHY they fossilized so rapidly, but ALSO accounts for their fossils being found all across the world seemingly randomly(it was a GLOBAL flood). HOWEVER, many evolutionists writing the papers with thier PhDs discredit this, because if they admit the flood was real and THAT killed the dinosaurs, then science for nearly two centuries was incorrect about evolution(I believe in adaptation- animals of their own kinds changing and adapting over time to adjust to their environment and such), which would cause people to question EVERYTHING that has built its legitimacy on the backbone of the STORY of evolution. This would lead the MASSES to the Biblical account of Genesis. Their pride gets in the way, so for now it is only knowable for those who diligently search, research, and have an understanding of the Flood as REAL history, and not just an ancient legend or Bible story.

      3) Opposition: “But humans never saw dinosaurs! If they did, why didn’t anyone talk about it or make any art depicting them?”
      3) Archeological + Historical truth: They did! The word dinosaur wasn’t introduced until the 1800s. They used to call them DRAGONS! Not only that, but there IS ancient art of them! We see it on the Cambodian Khmer Empire temple-monastery of Ta Prohm, where there are carvings of stegosaurus dating around 1186 AD. We see a “dragon” being swatted at in the Nile Mosaic of Palestrina(c. 100 BC). The Ishtar gate, c. 600 BC. All kinds of well recognized dragons in ancient Chinese art and ornamental icons, with some depictions dating back to 2000 BC. Most curious, the SAUROPOD dinosaur we talked about earlier, appearing in three different times, in totally different people groups in the ancient world: A Mesopotamian jasper cylinder seal from around 3500 BC., AND, a “cosmetic palette” from ancient Egypt(these dinosaurs were used to help build the oldest pyramids too, more than likely) dating back as far as 3100 BC., AND in ancient Native American art found in Utah somewhere between 150 BC. and 1200 AD.(though that last one is a large gap).
A logical person would come to the conclusion that these people groups SAW them with their own eyes.
That is Biblically sound, and CONFIRMED in Job 40- God was describing a Sauropod, His “behemoth”, the gentle giant. He was peaceful, ate vegetation, and likely helped some ancient civilizations lift some HEAVY stuff. This is why God Himself calls the behemoth “the first of the ways of God” in Job 40:19-24. We see that this creature is gentle, delights in the food he finds in the mountains, lies down while the other beasts of the field play, he is calm though rivers rage, he is confident and not disturbed, despite people trying to kill him. These behemoths were likely the first to not be outright *hostile* to humans, and to be gentle to their small friends, out of all the dinosaurs/dragons. These behemoths, when you dig deep, are a reflection of God’s nature, and an incredible picture of Jesus Christ. They, to humans, would be larger than life, it would surprise us how gentle they are, how they have mercy on us when they could easily stomp on us, how despite being so HUGE they only eat vegetation and desire not to harm us. The behemoth is first in the WAYS of God. We are His children, yes, but boy, does He love the Sauropod.

Anyways Ms. Marrian I hope you read my whole comment! This gave me so much strengthening of faith. God bless you sister. Keep getting your knowledge up!
