What Got You Interested in the Gospels

Why would anyone begin an investigation of Christianity, especially if they were content in their life as an atheist? What got YOU interested in the gospels? This clip was taken from J. Warner Wallace’s interview with Ragnhard Petersen, the general secretary of the student movement in the Faroe islands called KFS (the Faroese version of Intervarsity).

For more information about the reliability of the New Testament gospels and the case for Christianity, please read Cold-Case Christianity: A Homicide Detective Investigates the Claims of the Gospels. This book teaches readers ten principles of cold-case investigations and applies these strategies to investigate the claims of the gospel authors. The book is accompanied by an eight-session Cold-Case Christianity DVD Set (and Participant’s Guide) to help individuals or small groups examine the evidence and make the case.

I always thought I was a Christian, had been baptized, confirmed in the Lutheran Church, raised 3 children but had some very bad experiences when I went to church so didn’t go myself for a while, then did, then didn’t. But one Christmas Eve I was talking to my horses as I put them to bed and told them about Jesus being born in a stable. It hit me that night that I really didn’t know if it was really and truly true. So I got out my Bible and started to read. That was about 10 years ago. Now I REALLY know it’s true, thanks to Jim Wallace, Greg Koukl and many others.

My question for you is what version of the Bible did you start with, Jim? I started with the ESV and quickly moved on the the NASB study Bible which i use most of the time today.
